Tenby in Bloom's organisers are to bring in a new scheme this year to brighten up the town's High Street.

Mayor, Clr. Mrs. Sue Lane, chairman of the Tenby in Bloom committee, told her colleagues at a meeting of the town council on Tuesday night that premises in the centre of the town would be offered hanging baskets filled with flowers that had been nurtured by local schoolchildren.

"The High Street has been bereft of flowers in recent years, so we are trying our best to put that right for this year's competition," she explained.

The event's annual daffodil competition at the local schools in memory of former Mayor, the late Denzil Griffiths, would also take place.

Judging for the Tenby in Bloom event would take place around the town on Wednesday, July 8, with the Wales in Bloom judges likely to be in the area anytime between July 1 to 18, said Clr. Mrs. Lane, who also confirmed that the town would host the event's annual awards ceremony on Friday, September 18.
