Unless you're a surfing dude, you could forgive anyone east of Swansea for not having heard of Manorbier, but in the world of women's football the name Manorbier is making everyone sit up and take notice.

The weekend saw the ladies keep up their 100 per cent record with an emphatic 10-1 victory over Swansea University.

On a windy rainswept Manorbier pitch, the ladies went behind early on when a ball floated in from the right gave goalkeeper Hannah Francis no chance.

Manorbier responded with a typical low drive from Stacey John, who went on to score three more.

Manorbier scored at regular intervals through the match, with Michaela Bevan getting a hat-trick and Nadia Lawrence, Amanda John and Bethan Roberts getting one apiece.

Next up for the ladies is a tough game in the Welsh Cup against Cyncoed and then Swansea City in the premier league the week after.

Meanwhile, the Under 17s travelled east to Dinas Powys: anticipating a challenge from the unknown opposition, the girls started slowly.

Within the first 20 minutes it was clear that Manorbier were more than a match for the spirited Dinas side and by half-time were 3-1 up.

After the interval, a further four goals gave the girls a fairly easy victory and like the ladies, they maintain their 100 per cent record.

Coach Mike Lewis was very pleased with the whole team, including substitutes, all of whom played an integral part in the victory.

"I anticipate a much harder game next weekend against Newport County; this will be a real test for the girls," he said.

Manorbier played without captain Molly Furnival Doran who is away with the Welsh squad in Macedonia for the Under 17s Championships.

Molly will also miss the Newport game. Wednesday sees Angharad James and Hannah Lewis join the Welsh Under 16s squad for the game against Finland in Llanelli.

The midfield duo are hoping that their successful partnership for Manorbier can be repeated on the international stage on Wednesday night.
