KICKED by an elephant, shared a toilet with a snake, kissed by a killer whale, been in a hurricane, ran the gauntlet with crocodiles, flown in an airship over Surrey, met Laurel and Hardy, several Prime Ministers and members of the Royal Family and had tea with the Queen Mother in St. James's Palace.

These are some of the experiences of journalists and travel writers Roy and Margaret Sharp, who are celebrating their Diamond Wedding in July. They are described in Roy's autobiography, 'Never A Dull Moment', with forewords by Lord Charles Forte and Sir Ray Tindle.

Sir Ray Tindle, chairman of Tindle Newspapers, wrote: "You will never have a dull moment whilst you are reading Roy's autobiography. You will follow his footsteps from Cambridge, Nottingham and Oxshott, to Thailand, Louisiana and the Caribbean and will not be able to put the book down."

During the 1939-1945 World War, Roy served in the Royal Air Force in Gibraltar and in the book he describes life on the Rock during those years.

In 1966, Roy and Margaret launched the 'Esher and Leatherhead Courier', one of the first free newspapers in the country and 10 years later, they and their paper became part of the Surrey Advertiser Group.

Anecdotes, humorous stories and incidents abound, from a life which has obviously been sharp but seldom dull.

The book is published by Serendipity and priced at £12.50.
