The new term is well under way and Netherwood School has welcomed pupils from England, Wales, Hong Kong and Thailand. They will add to the rich diversity that is Netherwood. The school has also welcomed back Miss Sian Evans to teach junior forms and Spanish throughout the school and Mr. David Gibby who will now also teach IT. and some maths throughout the school, as well as in the Sixth Form. Everyone hopes they will be very happy at Netherwood. At the first assembly, principal, Mr. Morris, announced that David Warren would be Head Boy and Ellice McDonagh-Williams Head Girl. Their deputies are Matthew James and Sophie Merriman, while prefects are Timi Aborishade, Alice Bendall, Govan Berridge, James Parcell and Vickie Purchase. Congratulations go to all of them. Netherwood pupils have had a busy summer. Pupils from Years 11, 12 and 13 celebrated their excellent GCSE, AS and A level results and are beginning new courses. They are wished well. However, junior pupils have also much to celebrate, particularly pupils of Year 5. Beau Vickery came first in the Junior Golf Open Day at Milford, scoring a fantastic 40 points. He was presented with his shield in assembly. Bea Bea Meyrick qualified for dressage and showing and will compete at the David Broome Riding Centre. She also gained a first at Hayscastle Show, three firsts, two seconds and four thirds at the Clunderwen Show and three fifths at the Pembrokeshire County Show riding 'Bright Eyed Benji'. What a busy girl! Meanwhile, Tommy Scourfield represented the county playing cricket against Glamorgan for the Junior Team. Well done to them all. To complete the summer of successes, the following pupils were successful in their music examinations: Flute, grade one - Bea Bea Meyrick and Eloise Short; Piano, grade one - Katsuhiro Ikeda, Astrid Bowen, Eloise Short (merit), grade two - Jennifer Perrett and Sophie Ramsden; Organ, grade two - Jennifer Perrett, grade seven - Gareth Morgan (merit); Singing, grade one - Millicent Sandifer-Smith and Katrina Baron, grade two - Alice Zangouras (merit); Baritone, grade one - Christopher Davies (merit); Trumpet, grade one - Griff Gigler. The term ahead looks to be another busy one, with sporting fixtures, public speaking and concerts to look forward to and no doubt many more successes to report.
