The last month has seen some fierce competition in the Dyfed Netball League. All 10 teams have been battling hard to secure their position for the end of season rankings!
Alongside the league, heating up to boiling point is the progression of the Netball Cup competition following the semi-finals which were fiercely contested at the beginning of February!
A quick reminder of the teams progressing through to the cup final, who are the two stronghold teams of Milford, who overcame St. Clears in their semi-final, and Carmarthen Aces, who conquered sister team Carmarthen Dragons (cup final report to come next week)!
Dyfed Winter League
As the end of the season draws closer, all matches have been a friendly, but highly competitive affairs!
Carmarthen Dragons proved too strong for university side Lampeter, winning by a comprehensive 84-7 score.
The later slot in the evening saw a closely contested game between two teams vying for a position in the top three of the league, namely Carmarthen Aces and Pembroke A. Following a goal for goal match, the Aces eventually won by the narrow margin of 41-35.
March began with a local derby between Pembrokeshire teams, Milford and Pembroke A. Again a close battle ensued, with both teams looking for a top three finish.
A goal scored at the Pembrokeshire end was closely followed by a goal in the Milford circle. Eventually, Pembroke A snatched a narrow victory, with a 43-41 final scoreline.
On the second court, Cardigan B secured a confident 32-19 win over the Lampeter students.
The later matches saw the strong force of Carmarthen Aces overwhelming Cardigan A (73-35) and Pembroke B gaining valuable points against Carmarthen Colts with yet another marginal scoreline of 29-25.
