Tenby's former Job Centre has been taken over by the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority which will be opening a National Park interpretation centre there later this year. The authority has long been looking for a suitable building in the town and believes that the premises - almost opposite the Five Arches - are ideal for its purposes. A three-year lease has been secured and the National Park will take over the ground floor on March 31. The building is owned by the Tenby Ex- Servicemen's Club which has its club facilities above. The initial lease gives the authority an excellent opportunity to develop its plans and to look at partnership working to make full use of the building. "There has been a long-standing policy to develop centres in three key areas of the National Park, St Davids, Newport and Tenby," said Peter Hordley, head of recreation and communication. "The building is in excellent condition, having been renovated within the last 10 years, and is more than adequate for the Park's requirements. This provides us with a unique opportunity to explore links with potential partners over the next 18 months with a view to working together to use the building and its superb location to the full." He added: "At this early stage we are keen to talk to anyone - in the public or private sectors - who feel that they can work with us in this building. "This is good news for Tenby and for the National Park. We must make this building work for the community and the Authority."
