The Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority recently re-elected Clr. Mike James as its chairman.

Clr. James was elected by members at the annual general meeting of the National Park Authority at its head office in Llanion Park, Pembroke Dock, earlier this month.

Authority member Mrs. Gwyneth Hayward is the new deputy chairman, taking over the role previously held by Mr. David Ellis.

Speaking after his re-election, Clr. James said: “I’d like to thank members for their continued support. I have thoroughly enjoyed my three years as chairman and look forward to working with members and officers to lead the authority through the challenges it faces in the coming year.”

During his time as chairman, Clr. James has represented the Park Authority on the executive committees of National Parks Wales and National Parks UK.

He is also a representative on the WLGA Council and has provided evidence on behalf of the authority to the Williams Commission on public service governance and delivery, the Marsden Report on the Review of Designated Landscapes in Wales and the ongoing Future Landscapes Working Group, which arose out of the Marsden review.

Clr. James, who is from St. Dogmaels, joined the authority in 2010 and was elected deputy chairman in 2012.

At a meeting of the development management committee, which followed the annual general meeting, Clr. Rob Lewis was elected chairman, with Clr. Reg Owens elected as deputy chairman.
