Manorbier Ladies Football Club received exciting news recently when they were informed that they had been accepted into the newly-formed FAW National Ladies League. The league will start in September.
Initially, the National League will be split in to two sections, North Wales and South Wales, with just four teams in each section.
The subsequent league winners of each will play against each other to ascertain who will be overall national champions.
The eventual champion team will represent Wales in Europe. The four selected southern teams are, UWIC, Swansea City, Newcastle Emlyn and Manorbier.
Manorbier coach Gerry Rigby was delighted with the news, saying: "This is a really exciting and significant opportunity, both for the club, and any player from within the county who wants to play on the higher stage.
"It will also be a great encouragement to our existing ladies team, who will continueto play in the current West Wales Ladies League, and also to our excellent Under 16 team, giving them the opportunity to progress on to this higher level.
"We already have half-a-dozen or so girls who have represented Wales at regional, and national level, and this can only help their development."
He went on to say: "To further our player base we plan to start an Under 14 team which will also play in the West Wales Girls League. This should put in place a sustainable youth system which will feed eventually into our national league side."
New players are invited to apply for all the teams at the club, from Under 14, Under 16, West Wales ladies team and the national league team.
