Netherwood School has much to celebrate at the start of 2003.
Ex-pupil Jonathan Cope, son of previous principal Mr. Bob Cope, has been appointed CBE, in recognition of his services to ballet. Jonathan was a pupil at Netherwood School from 1971-74. He was one of Miss Violet Ellis's ballet pupils in Pembroke. She, above all, would now be extremely proud of his recent achievements. Jonathan owes much to the training he received at the Royal Ballet School in Richmond Park.
Netherwood has also reached national acclaim in being in receipt of an award for Outstanding Academic Achievement for the Year 2002. The award was presented to them by the Journal Publishing Company, who recently made the following comment in one of their publications:
"In keeping with this publication's policy to reward those organisations who, we feel, provide the best possible service and maintain the highest standards in the field, we at the Journal Publishing Company are delighted to announce Netherwood School as the winner of the JPC Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement 2002. This is in light of their commitment to providing a superb standard of education for the future ladies and gentlemen of our society."
Netherwood, indeed, has much to be proud of.
