Tenby Ladies Hockey team played their first league match on Sunday against Carmarthen at Haverfordwest. The team have been training hard and looking forward to the start of the season.
Tenby started the game strongly, with even possession between the two teams, but Tenby's defence had to react quickly to a breakthrough by Carmarthen.
Tenby responded with a strong attack, with some excellent build up from Julie in the midfield. They won a short corner, which unfortunately went wide.
The play continued to be even between the two teams, with some excellent tackling from Julie and good defending from Ruth.
Carmarthen advanced forward and, following a scramble in the goal, they scored.
In the second-half, Tenby continued to show their determination with some quick passing between Mandy and Barney and some great crosses from Annie. Tenby won a short corner, from which Julie's shot went very close.
Tenby were denied a goal, as an attempt was saved off the line and they continued to attack, as the end of the match grew closer, but failed to capitalise.
The end result was Carmarthen 1 Tenby 0.
Tenby hope to improve on this opening game next week when they play Milford, at Haverfordwest.
