Narberth Winter Carnival once again defied the elements on Saturday and saw crowds of people supporting the event despite the cold weather.
The paperback breakfast held at Narberth Museum Bookshop in the morning was full to capacity and many children enjoyed their visit to Santa's Grotto.
Heb Enw Morris Dancers were to be found dancing in the streets during the afternoon, getting the town in carnival mood and DJ Andrew Jenkins provided the ever-popular children's disco, warming the children up before Narberth Primary School sang carols outside the Town Hall.
The Snow Queen, escorted by Father Christmas, led the lively and colourful carnival parade around the town.
Accompanying the entrants were the musical talents of Samba Doc and the very popular Westside All Stars Comedy Band.
This year's judge was David Griffiths, president of Tenby and District Lions, and the results were:
Best child entry - The Snow Queen (Jaz Strzelecki).
Best walking group - Frosty the Snowman and Father Christmas (Louie and Jacob Owen).
Best small float - The Ivy's Rockin' Rudolph (The Ivy Bush).
Best large float - Dead Musician's Society (The Dragon Inn).
Tom Thomas Memorial Trophy for the Best Narberth Float - Narberth's Got Talent (The Eagle).
David O'Connell Memorial Trophy for the Best Overall Entry - Dead Musician's Society (The Dragon Inn).
The organising committee would like to thank the main sponsor, Costain Ltd., along with Event Management Services UK, G. D. Harries and Sons, Bargain Box, Wisebuys, Spar, Utopia, Narberth Chamber of Trade, Merlin First Aid, narberth.co.uk, The Queen's Hall, Narberth Cubs and Scouts, Andrew Jenkins and Tony Rogers.
Thanks also to the fire brigade and the police for their ever-continuing help and support.
Said winter carnival committee chairman, Clr. Mrs. Ruth Platt: "Unfortunately, due to the weather, the Velfrey Queen steam engine could not lead the parade, but it did not put any dampers on the event as Narberth was buzzing both day and night.
"The parade went off well and was led by Father Christmas, the Snow Queen and one of Santa's elves.
"The Samba Doc Band were in full festive mood and got spectators in full swing, and also the All Stars Comedy Band from Swansea got the whole crowd in a joyful harmony and everyone was having a good time."
She continued: "May I as chairman thank the winter carnival committee who work tirelessly all year for this one day event to go without a hitch, also the carnival co-ordinator Andrew Salmon, marshalls and the representatives from the Tenby and Saundersfoot Lions, who kept the health and safety aspect of the carnival first class, Andrew Jenkins for his time in running the disco, the emergency services who were on hand, the Mayor and Mayoress for their time in presenting the trophies, also the president of the Tenby and Saundersfoot Lions.
"The businesses and townsfolk of Narberth who always make you feel welcome when you visit and visitors alike who come back again and again for this event, as if it was not for yourselves we would not be able to hold this event.
"Lastly, may I on behalf of the committee wish everyone a peaceful and happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year."
