THE Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust (GWCT) is delighted to announce the winner of the Welsh Fantastic Four Shoot Raffle, which has raised £15,000 for its vital scientific research.
The winning ticket was drawn by Welsh rugby legend Sir Gareth Edwards and was won by Mr. Jamie Lewis, of Narberth. The prize is a day’s shooting for eight guns at four outstanding shoots in Herefordshire and Powys, which will be held on Monday. December 4.
The raffle was run by the South East Wales committee of the GWCT, which is dedicated to finding practical and effective means of preserving wildlife for future generations. The GWCT has been expanding its role in Wales, with Sue Evans recently being appointed director there.
GWCT work in Wales in Wales includes satellite tagging woodcock, as well as previously joining forces with the Country Land and Business Association (CLA) and the Farming and Wildlife Advisory Group (FWAG) to secure £250,000 for two large scale moorland restoration projects.
Roger Thomas, the GWCT SE Wales chairman, said: “The raffle proved to be extremely popular, with the tickets selling out very quickly due to the quality of the four shoots involved. I am sure the winner and his guests will enjoy the day.”
The GWCT would like to thank the four shoots - Tregoyd, Glanusk, Bishopswood and Goodrich Castle - for their generosity, and all those who took part in the raffle to help raise such a large sum for a good cause.
