Narberth hosts the world premiere of 'Rosebud - the lives of Orson Welles', next Saturday, June 26.
Rosebud Productions (the production company) consists of a unique team.
A writer (Mark Jenkins) with a track record of producing an international hit solo show, a director (Josh Richards) with practical, personal experience of how to successfully devise and stage such a show, and a rising young, talented actor, (Christian McKay) who has already won the recognition of his peers as a consummate performer at the highest level.
'Rosebud' is a project born out of the remarkable international success of a previous collaboration - 'Playing Burton' - between partners Mark Jenkins, the author, and Josh Richards, the director.
Mark Jenkins is one of Wales's leading writers in theatre and film. His show 'Playing Burton', based on the life of international Welsh superstar, Richard Burton has been performed continuously on almost every continent for the 11 years since it was written.
The American Pulitzer Prize-winning literary legend, Norman Mailer described it as "virtuoso writing, rich and lyrical".
Josh Richards is a local boy, born and raised in Tenby and trained at the Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff.
His acting work has ranged from Shakespeare, to musicals, to popular television shows - Heartbeat; Trial and Retribution.
He has recently returned from three months filming in Malta and Mexico for the new Brad Pitt movie 'Troy', released in May.
As a director, his work won a Silver Cup at the National Youth Drama Festival with Chekhov's, 'The Anniversary' and T. S. Eliot's 'Murder in the Cathedral'.
What Josh Richards thus brings to the Rosebud Project is immense experience in how to stage and tailor a one-man show in performance before diverse audiences.
Christian McKay plays the extraordinary Orson Welles. Christian trained at The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, graduating in 2001. He performed in the world premiere of Howard Brenton's 'Kit's Play' and before HM the Queen he performed in 'The Clandestine Marriage'.
In 2002, Christian joined The Royal Shakespeare Company on the recommendation of Lord Attenborough. He appeared with the RSC in 'Antony and Cleopatra'.
'Rosebud' has its world premiere at the Queen's Hall, Narberth, before it has a month-long run at the most prestigious Edinburgh venue - The Nokia Assembly Rooms National Theatre of the Fringe.
This has been achieved against the most intense competition, even before the forwarding of the new, completed script - on the basis of the past records of Josh Richards and Mark Jenkins.
