TOMORROW (Saturday), Narberth's dynamic Queen's Hall hosts a night of boogie woogie and stomping rhythm and blues when American pianist Daryl Davis brings his rock 'n' roll band to play the bank holiday gig.
Daryl Davis is an extraordinary, multi-talented person with a passion for blues and boogie piano playing. He is the current piano player with Chuck Berry, and has also played and sung with many other legendary rock and blues stars. In 1985 he took over the piano stool in Muddy Waters' band from the legendary Pinetop Perkins who called him 'one of the greatest blues and boogie pianists'. He has also worked with The Coasters, The Jordanaires, and Cephas and Wiggins, and been recommended by the likes of Little Richard and Johnnie Johnson.
Daryl has also gained fame as a composer of film music and has had American hits with his own tunes. He is also the author of several books about the Klu Klux Klan and lecturer in Afro American studies. Channel 4 has filmed a progamme about this special performer, which was broadcast last year. His latest CD, 'American Roots', is a boogie wonderland of rock 'n' roll, newly released on the Armadillo label.
Reports from other venues on his UK tour say that he has torn the place apart with standing ovations. You should come prepared to dance your blues away to this exceptional and authentic rock 'n' roller's fabulous band. The inimitable BB Skone will start the night with a set of vintage rock classics from his extensive collection.
Doors open 8pm. Band on stage 9.30pm.
