Heritage Minister Alun Ffred Jones has announced that Narberth Museum is to receive £25,000 to improve the visitor facilities and foster greater involvement with the local community.

Narberth Museum will receive this grant to continue funding, for a second year, a project officer to co-ordinate the restoration and completion of the Bonded Stores building which will house the community run museum.

These grants are part of a £860,000 funding  package announced  today for  2009/10  for  Welsh museums, archives and libraries to develop a series of innovative  and collaborative projects to promote Wales' cultural identity and benefit local communities.

Alun Ffred Jones, Heritage Minister said:, "I am delighted to allocate this funding to so many fascinating projects across Wales.

"Our nation has a wealth of unique material collected and cared for by Welsh museums, archives and libraries.

"This funding will enable access to a wide range of historical material and increase the opportunity to engage with our national collections - all of which tell the story of Wales and its people through time."
