Like many small museums at the moment, Narberth is trying to find ways to stay connected to its followers.
An event scheduled before the lockdown - ‘Turn out Your Pockets/ Kindle the Flame’, has now been transferred online.
The Museum is asking people to share some of their family treasures, memories and social history, something that reminds them of their grandparents, represents a family story, or perhaps something that has been kept safe from a significant period of history.
Pictures of the objects and the stories behind them are being uploaded onto the Museum website www.narberthmuseum.co.uk and Facebook page. Already some fascinating examples have been sent in.
They include a book of autographs collected in prison by a conscientious objector during WWI and a charming little pot with a particular relevance to today’s Covid-19 emergency. Images and stories can be sent to [email protected]
No matter how long ago we learned to read, it’s a real comfort to be able to lose ourselves in a book at the moment.
The Museum is pleased to report that its bookshop, ChapterOne, can now resume its ordering service to supply the books you need to get you through.
Email the details to [email protected] and if what you want is in stock we’ll get it to you straight away (free delivery if you’re within walking distance of the Museum!) Or we’ll get our supplier to send it to you direct.
Much work is going on behind the scenes with volunteers planning how the Museum can prepare to re-open when the time is right. In the meantime, an uplifting reminder of the Museum’s extensive photographic collection can also be found on Facebook.
