The annual Help for Heroes Colossal Cake sale held in the Townsmoor Car Park in Narberth leads the rest of the field when it comes to raising money for our wounded service personnel and their families.
Every year, towns around the UK compete to see who can raise the most from their H4H cake sales and Narberth is the tearaway winner.
So much so that this year Narberth has been asked to kick-off the Bake for Heroes Week which is being held right across the UK from the June 23-30.
Once again, the organisers are asking bakers to roll up their sleeves, get floury and bake their hearts out for the cause.
Support for those who have been wounded in battle, both physical and mental is as important now as it was when our soldiers were first coming home from the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts with life changing injuries.
Sally Amoore, whose son was one of the injured, says that the affect of the wars on soldiers’ mental health has become increasingly concerning and on-going support is essential. This applies to veterans of all conflicts and not solely the most recent.
This year’s colossal cake sale is on Saturday, June 23, in Narberth Townsmoor Car Park from 9 am - 4 pm. Everything from cakes to jams welcome and of course the more the merrier!
