Teenager Thomas Richards was crowned player of the year and first team skipper Richard Adams chairman's clubman of the year at the annual dinner of Narberth Cricket Club held at Plas Hyfryd Country Hotel, Narberth.

The dinner and presentations ceremony were well attended with over 70 players, officials, supporters and friends in the splendid function suite at the hotel, together with many of the club's sponsors.

One of Pembrokeshire's best-know sports followers, Richard Fanus, a former Narberth cricketer himself, was the guest speaker.

Club chairman Huw Simpkins commenting later said: "Richard was superb, very witty, heartfelt and interesting! He also donated a new bat to the club to a player most in need of it if the player did not have his own equipment."

Innovative chairman Huw Simpkins reviewed the season and congratulated the first team in reaching the Harrison-Allen Bowl final at Cresselly for the first time in 46 years and for holding on to a place in Division One.

The Seconds won promotion from Division Four and although the Thirds were relegated from Division Five, the league fixtures enable young players to develop their skills in senior cricket.

The following presentations were made: First Team Player of the Year - Tom Richards, who also received a framed scorecard after scoring a century in the league match at Llangwm; Second Team Player of the Year - Nick Evans; Third Team Player of the Year - Nathan Lloyd.

There were also some other presentations to the ladies of the committee - Rhian Howell, Heather Howell and Emma Richards - for their work for the club.

Also a presentation was made to Will Davidson of his Harrison-Allen finalist's trophy by Richard Adams as he was unable to collect it after the final in Cresselly.

In addition, presentations were made to Olga Adams for doing all the first team teas and also a bottle of wine was presented to the raffle master Peter Hughes.
