Plans are gathering pace for this year’s Narberth Civic Week, which will culminate in the return of the town’s popular carnival after a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic.

The Civic Week will run from Sunday, July 24 to Saturday, July 30, with the carnival taking place on the final day, with an ‘anything goes’ theme this year.

This year the Civic Week Committee has put a call out to parents in the locality as they are looking for new Carnival Attendants, in categories such as a queen and king, along with princesses and princes.

Following feedback, the Committee has changed the criteria of the Carnival attendants entries, removing the specific schools and changed it to 'Entrants are open to anyone whose 'residence' is in Narberth' - to incorporate people who may live in Narberth but may attend a school not listed or that might be home schooled.

A closing date for applications has been set to Friday, May 20, and the committee will then make a decision on the list of applicants that have been submitted.

If you are a local business, then this year the Carnival Day street theme will be ‘Bright and Wonderful’ - so please feel free to decorate your window displays and dress up as bright as you can.

There is also a call for street entertainment, as for 2022, the Civic Week would like to showcase local musicians to perform on Carnival morning - one at the top of Narberth by JJ Morris the other by The Contented Sole.

If you are a band which would appeal to all please contact Narberth Civic Week at: [email protected]
