This weekend sees the start of this year's fun- packed Narberth Civic Week. The whole town will be buzzing with events for all the family to enjoy throughout the seven-day festival. The highlight of the summer scene in Narberth gets underway on Sunday at 10.15 am with the civic parade to the civic service, which is followed by the civic luncheon. Other events on opening day (times and more details of which can be found in the timetable elsewhere in this special feature) are a classic car rally at the school playground, a cricket festival at the cricket ground and a five-a-side football tournament at the Town Moor. Later in the afternoon, there will be a car treasure hunt, a Songs of Praise at Bethesda Chapel, and a Quiz Night at the Farmers Arms. Monday sees a beat the goalie competition at the Town Moor, a Tea Dance at Queen's Hall, fun at the swimming pool, bingo at Narberth Rugby Club, and a Music Night at The Kirkland. A Quilting Exhibition opens at Bethesda Chapel on Tuesday, while there will be Circus Skills with Common Ground at the Town Moor. Both events will also be on Wednesday and Thursday. A Senior Citizens Coffee Morning at Café Q, a Children's Talent Show at the Bus Stop building, a Children's Disco at the Rugby Club, plus a Wet 'n' Wild at the Town Moor and Fun Night at The Ivy Bush are also on Tuesday's bill. The Grass Track at West Atherton, scheduled for Tuesday, has unfortunately been postponed until August 7. The Baby Show at the Queen's Hall is sure to be one of Wednesday's highlights, while football coaching at the Town Moor and a Teddy Bear's Picnic, behind the RAOB Club, are also likely to draw enthusiastic participants. The evening's entertainment includes a Sports Quest at the Rugby Ground, a food quiz at the Rugby Club and a Band Night at the Dragon Inn. The second Senior Citizens Coffee Morning at Café Q will be held on Thursday, while there will also be an Antiques Fair at the Queen's Hall, Children's Sports at the Town Moor, a Ramble Walk, starting at the car park, while in the afternoon there will be Clubs Fun at the Town Moor. The evening sees Robin Hood (Span production) at Narberth Castle, plus a BBQ and Fun at The Angel, and Pool Knock-Out at the RAOB Club. Friday heralds a Children's Treasure Hunt, starting from outside the RAOB Club, a Pet Show at the Town Moor, a Tug of War/Fun Run at the Rugby Club, a Barbeque Dance at Plas Hyfryd, in aid of Narberth First Responder Unit, and a Fun night at The Eagle. Saturday is the much-awaited Carnival Day. The celebrations get underway with a Street Fair, the theme of which this year is 1950s Rock 'n' Roll. The Carnival Parade begins at 2 pm and will tour the town, prior to judging at 3 pm at the Town Moor. The fun is certainly likely to carry on for many hours, with attractions for all the family to enjoy. Civic Week then rounds off with 'Voices of Praise' Ladies Choir from Swansea singing at Bethesda Chapel in the evening.
