With an ‘anything goes’ theme for 2019 - some of the characters and costume on display at Narberth Carnival this year were simply ‘out of this world’.

The annual event on Saturday was the culmination of another superb Civic Week for the town.

One of the stars of the parade was the town’s most senior resident, 103-year-old Gwen Hood, who travelled in style in an open-topped Mini around the procession circuit.

Carnival Queen Alisha Morgan was accompanied for the big day by carnival princess Chloe Woodford, fairy queen Ava Daters, carnival king Jake Morgan, and their attendants Hallie Morgan, Aidan Edwards, Saskia Minton, Isabella Bazen and Amberlily Minton.

Mayor of Narberth, Clr. Chris Walters, Chairman of Civic Week said: “A huge thank you goes to everyone who has supported Narberth Civic Week 2019.

“This year we changed the way we went about promoting our events and also put an enormous amount of time into planning which has clearly paid off. All events in the calendar were well attended including our newly arranged activities.

“I know our Sunday didn’t go to plan with the last-minute cancellation of the Wet and Wild, however, I have been in contact with the organiser who has assured me he will re-arrange as soon as possible over the summer to make it up to the community.

“I also have to thank my fantastic committee who have worked extremely hard this year - especially through this fantastic heatwave we’ve had.

“Every year we say it but it’s true - without the backing of the committee - who are all volunteers - we wouldn’t have a Civic Week!

“Each member gives up around 180 plus hours free to hold events for the community and expect nothing in return. Thank you to every single committee member for their excellent hard work.

“Finally, I want to finish by thanking all our brochure sponsors, traffic management team, event venues and the whole community who have been extremely supportive. We look forward to seeing you next year, heres to 2020!” he added.
