There was a definite air of expectancy at Narberth's Queen's Hall last Friday evening, with record numbers and an excellent turnout of both parents and children as the judges carefully considered the potential winners of this year's Carnival Queens selection (and Page Boys). Among the judges were Clr. Tony Brinsden from Amroth, Mayor and Clr. W. Conwil Harries JP from Whitland and Janet Davies from Llanteg. Chris Walker did an excellent job as compere for the evening, skilfully putting the contestants at their ease as he asked them pertinent questions about their school life and hobbies. First to be judged was the Fairy Queen for contestants aged from four to eight. This was won by Kelsey Rees, with attendants Nikita Rossiter and Chantelle Stapleton. Prizes for Page Boys were won by Shane Rossiter and Owen Griffiths. The new Rose Queen was chosen out of the nine to 13-year-olds, with Danniele Watts winning the title and attendants Amber Boyd and Laura Price supporting her. The Carnival Queen title was won this year by Nichola Jackson and her chosen attendants were Bobbie Evans and Sarah Howitt. Newly-appointed Mayor of Narberth, Clr. David Norcross, gave a short address and presented the prizes and trophies. Refreshments were available and a truly memorable evening was had by all.
