British Heart Foundation Cymru (BHF) Fundraising branch in Narberth is celebrating 33 years of raising money for life-saving heart research.
The branch was set up in 1984, giving their time and energy to accelerate the fight against heart disease. Over the years, the branch has taken part and organised a range of fundraising activities to help raise vital funds, from coffee mornings to collections.
To celebrate the occasion, the group held their annual coffee morning at the RAOB club in Towns Moor on Saturday, February 4, and raised a total of £500. Thank you to Jill Sutcliff and a group of Kilgetty quilters who got together and created a quilt which was raffled in the coffee morning and raised £120.
Ralph Dunbar, chairman of the branch, said: “We’re delighted to celebrate supporting BHF Cymru. We would like to thank everyone who has helped and supported us over the last 33 years and look forward to continuing our support of the BHF’s life-saving research over the coming years. A big thank you to everyone who helped with the coffee morning and thank you to Kilgetty Quilters, Blakemore Retail Spar, St. Clears, for donating a hamper for the event and also to the local Pembroke Dock Tesco store for donating items for the raffle and also to everyone who supported and contributed on the day.”
Jayne Lewis, BHF fundraising manager for South West Wales, said: “We would like to say a huge thank you to all the members of the Narberth branch for their dedication and enthusiasm and we are really grateful to the group for supporting us over the past 33 years. Also thank you to the local community who have supported the branch over the past 33 years.
“Heart and circulatory disease affects around seven million people in the UK and thanks to the Narberth branch we’ll be able to fund even more research into these conditions.”
