Local musician Corey Morris will be one of the soloists when Côr Meibion De Cymru, (The South Wales Male Choir) return to St. David's Cathedral, next month, for their 27th annual concert.

The concert on Saturday, August 17, will showcase one of the leading male choirs in Wales. The choir draws its members from across Wales and southern England, creating a rather unique sound. Around 80 choristers will take to the stage!

This year's concert will include songs selected from the choir's wide repertoire. Traditional Welsh tunes, including 'Nazareth' and 'Canwn Moliannwn' will blend perfectly with 'One' from A Chorus Line and 'Sway' which helped to launch the career of Dean Martin. 'Stout Hearted Men' which appeared in the 1940 film, 'New Moon' will complement 'Speed Your Journey' from Giuseppe Verdi's opera Nabucco.

The choir is delighted that the internationally-renowned tenor, Rhys Meirion will appear this year. Rhys has an extensive catalogue of recorded work, including a duet album with Bryn Terfel. He recently appeared in a concert tour of Buenos Aires and Patagonia. Rhys is currently preparing for his second charity walk from Swansea to Caernarfon, supporting the Wales Air Ambulance.

The concert will also introduce young trumpeter, Corey Morris to the Pembrokeshire audience.

Corey is a member of the Greenhill School Orchestra and will commence his bachelor of music degree course at the RWCM&D in September. Corey has also recently been successful in securing support from the Elizabeth Evans Trust for young performers in Wales aspiring towards a career in the performing arts.

The choir will be lead by their musical director, Elaine Robins, accompanied by pianist Siân Davies and organist Terence Gilmore-James.
