A music quartet more accustomed to playing in such settings as the Royal Albert Hall and the Royal Festival Hall will find itself performing in the rather more humble surroundings of a tiny south Pembrokeshire chapel next week.

The Kosmos Ensemble, which has been described as 'among the brightest rising stars of musical Britain', will be appearing at Burnett's Hill Chapel, Martletwy, next Tuesday (November 18), as part of the chapel's winter series of world music concerts.

Kosmos comprises violinists Harriet Mackenzie and Meg Hamilton, cellist Laura Anstee and Balkan accordionist Milos Milovojevic. All virtuoso musicians, they play original compositions which are much influenced by eastern European, Gypsy, kletzmer and tango musical styles. A debut CD called 'Mazi Mazi' was released recently to critical acclaim.

"Kosmos normally plays at festivals and concert halls, so this is a rare opportunity to hear this exceptional ensemble in an intimate setting," said chapel trustee Robert Scourfield. "With the wonderful acoustics of Burnett's Hill, this concert promises to be one of the highlights of our winter programme."

Tickets for the concert, which is supported by the Arts Council of Wales 'Night Out' scheme, are available from the Pembroke Bookshop.
