There’s a rare homecoming gig to savour at Narberth Food Festival this weekend, when singer-songwriter Jodie Marie takes to the event’s music stage.
Jodie, who grew up in Narberth and signed to Decca in 2010, is currently recording her third album, due for release next year.
She said: “I’m really looking forward to playing Narberth Food Festival this year.
“It’s so lovely to play to my home-town crowd, especially as they’re the ones that have supported me all of these years!
“I’m busy playing gigs all over the place at the moment as a solo set-up and with my band, but I’m really looking forward to playing a stripped-back solo set for some familiar faces in Narberth.”
Festival-goers will be able to eat to the beat of a varied musical menu, which includes George Whitfield, with songs, tunes and accordion; home-grown bluesmen, Davy Jones and Thomas Crimble; the good-time sounds of Saint City Jazz Band and Carmarthen Ukuleles; ElderWood, Lightship Duo, Jess Dando and Tony Black and The Collectors - described as ‘White Stripes meet the Proclaimers’.
And there will also be a big welcome to Two Ravens, the duo led by singer and renowned autoharp player Bob Fish, a member of his 70s/80s band, Darts.
Two Ravens play a mix of bluegrass, gospel, country, folk and pop/rock classics, and the band brings together Bob’s voice and strummed backing with Holly Robinson’s versatile fiddle playing.
Narberth Food Festival takes place on the Town Moor tomorrow (Saturday) and Sunday (September 22 and 23), featuring over 50 stalls, chef demonstrations, masterclasses and workshops and free activities for children.
