A FIDDLE player with the famous surname of Swarbrick will be appearing at Burnett's Hill Chapel, Martletwy, next week.

However, this isn't the legendary Dave Swarbrick, of Fairport Convention fame, but his nephew Simon - an exceptional musician in his own right and one with a much broader repertoire.

Simon Swarbrick has been playing the fiddle since the age of 13 and is adept at a wide range of musical styles, from folk to jazz and Eastern European. He has performed and recorded as a solo artist and in a variety of bands, and is also a highly accomplished guitar and mandolin player.

Simon will be performing at Burnett's Hill as part of a duo with singer, guitarist and banjo player Kenny Watkins. A born raconteur with a reputation for quirky humour, Kenny describes himself as 'a product of the south Wales skiffle scene' and has spent many years performing on the folk circuit.

Swarbrick and Watkins will be appearing at Burnett's Hill on Thursday, March 5, at 7.30 pm. Tickets cost £6 and are available from the Pembroke Bookshop (01646) 685144.
