A duo whose most recent album was recorded in a barn in Maryland will be appearing at Burnett's Hill Chapel, Martletwy, on Wednesday, October 1.

This will be the only Welsh date on a tour of Britain for The Groanbox Boys, an American folk-roots duo with a growing following on both sides of the Atlantic.

The duo comprises banjo player and guitarist Cory Seznec and Michael Ward-Bergmann, a classically-trained accordion player who has toured with the acclaimed Romanian Gypsy band Taraf de Haidouks.

As well as traditional Appalachian songs and tunes, the Boys perform many of their own compositions which have been described as 'an extraordinary mix of European and American folk styles.' Many of the songs feature the unique 'Freedom Boot' - a home-made rhythm stick equipped with bells, bottle tops and boot.

The concert starts at 7.30 pm and tickets are available from the Pembroke Bookshop.
