Sir,
Tenby Museum is very pleased to have received a grant from Tenby Town Council for our latest project, as reported in last week's paper.
Tenby Museum and Art Gallery is the oldest independent museum in Wales and has charitable status.
When we were founded in 1878, education for all was important to the founders, who included Charles Allen, Dr. Frederick Dyster and Dr. Lock.
By adding the planned display of the Lydstep Pig to the collections we are continuing in the same vein.
We would love to offer free access to everyone, both locals and visitors, but the demands of our important work of conservation and need for professional staff, as well as electricity, insurance and other costs mean we must charge adults.
However, all accompanied children are now welcomed freely to the museum, and we offer lots of interesting activities for all ages!
I hope that members of the town council are regular visitors and act as ambassadors for one of Tenby's valued attractions.
Kathy Talbot,
Hon. curator,
Tenby Museum and Art Gallery
