Seventy people recently supported a Murder Mystery Dinner at the Fourcroft Hotel and were rewarded with a delicious meal in the hotel's newly refurbished restaurant and an intriguing 'Whodunit?' to solve with the help of their friends.

In this happy atmosphere the Saundersfoot and District committee of Macmillan Cancer Relief were able to raise £720 towards the care of cancer patients and their families.

The event was held by the kind invitation of owner of the Fourcroft, Chris Osborne.

The evening's plot was devised and written by Mike Thorne, leader of Murder & Mystery Inc., a cast of nine actors and actresses who entertained the diners with alibis, inferences, red herrings and humour. They also waived any fees in order to benefit the cause.

Cynthia Scourfield Lewis, chairman of the Saundersfoot and District Committee, thanked Chris Osborne, Mike Thorne and the actors, and the guests, for making the event such a success.

Macmillan Cancer Relief's services are free and are funded entirely through the generosity of supporters. In the UK today over a million people are living with cancer and four in 10 people will be diagnosed with cancer during their lifetime.

Macmillan not only provides its trademark nurses, it also funds other specialist nurses and doctors, buildings for cancer treatment and care, grants for patients in financial difficulties, educational projects and information services, all of which help make the lives of cancer patients and their families easier and reduce unnecessary levels of fear.

The committee's next event will be a tea-time Christmas reading by Laurie Dale and Pauline Allen at the De Valence Cafe at 4.30 pm on November 28. Tickets available at Dale's Music Shop, High Street. Enquiries: 01834 843295.
