The recent Mumbles Duathlon 2016 was once again a sell-out event.
Hosted by Activity Wales Events, the race attracted over 350 athletes from around the UK, making it one of the biggest Duathlons in the country.
With two distances, it retains its reputation of being the ‘race for all.’
Conditions were cold, but it was a beautiful sunny day, making racing perfect for all the athletes.
With only 45 seconds finishing time between the top three men in the long course it was gripping from the start. With Richard Wilder going out on the bike course in 20th place, he had a fantastic ride which ultimately finishing second overall after Deri Stewart beat him by just 20 seconds and first in his category.
A great race with the women’s category with both Elizabeth Williams and Debby Saunders taking first and second overall and in the women’s vet category too.
Last year’s female short course winner Lucy Middleton lost out on regaining her title, but Danielle Davies who beat her with a seven minute lead.
Also in the junior category is was very close with Ben Bartlett beating his twin brother Luc by just two minutes to win the junior title.
Next event is the amazing Swansea City Triathlon which place on June 5. Entries are still open at www.swanseatriathlon.com but places are filling fast. Ideal for beginners and those looking for a stunning and quick course.

Long course: Male Open - 1. Deri Stewart (01.32.00); 2. Richard Wilder (01.32.20); 3. Lewys Winfield Young (01.32.45). Female Open - 1. Elizabeth Williams (02.02.500; 2. Debby Saunders (02.06.26); 3. Rebecca Evans (02.06.38).
