Family and friends of the late Richard Rogers, of Freystrop, met recently at White House Mill Trout Fishery for a number of presentations in his memory.

To raise funds for the Paul Sartori Hospice where Richard spent his final days, his fishing friends 'The Muddlers' organised a fishing day, raffle and auction at White House Mill. The proceeds of this event, together with donations from absent friends, amounted to £1,500.

A cheque for this amount was presented to Chris Paterson representing Paul Sartori by Richard's wife Sheila and daughter Tracy.

'The Muddlers' then installed a memorial bench with the inscription 'Richard Rodgers, gone fishing' at his favourite spot at the fishery.

In turn, Peter and Barbara Hunt from White House Mill presented 'The Muddlers' with an engraved memorial cup to be fished for annually.

Richard is sadly missed, but will always be remembered by the vast number of people he had spent many hours encouraging, teaching and helping to take up fly fishing over recent years.
