A photo of staff from Pembrokeshire College getting stuck in on their Make a Difference Day 2013, creating a new pond at Holyland Wood with Pembroke 21C Community Association, has been selected for exhibition in the WCVA's Members Photography Contest. The photo entitled 'mud, mud, glorious mud' will be on display (with other entries) from June 14 - July 15 at Swansea's National Waterfront Museum, then at WCVA's Eisteddfod stand in Llanelli from August 1-9. These wonderful volunteers who provided the inspiration for the entry were helping build a pond to provide a new habitat for wildlife at Holyland Wood, a community wood in Pembroke as part of a wider education project run by Pembroke 21C Community Association, focused on Pembroke Millponds and Holyland Wood. The project was supported by funding from Natural Resources Wales and from the Port of Milford Haven. "The selection of the photo for exhibition comes as a great achievement, and shows that mud can be marvellous when modelled by these lovely ladies!" said John Hayes, chair of Pembroke Millponds Action Group. Pembrokeshire College are having another Make a Difference Day on July 2 when staff will again be giving their time to support local projects. If you or your group are interested in helping monitor the pond at Holyland Wood as it develops its own unique wildlife or would like to know more about this or other Pembroke 21C projects, please email [email protected]">[email protected], pop into Foundry House or call 01646 680090.

Mud, mud, glorious mud! Volunteers from Pembrokeshire College helped to create a new wildlife pond at a local community wood as part of their Make a Difference Day. Here they are enjoying the mud before the new pond is filled.
