South Pembrokeshire MP Simon Hart is pictured helping to launch a petition calling for the Minor Injury Units (MIUs) in Tenby and Pembroke Dock to stay open.

Also pictured is Pembroke town councillor Aaron Carey, who started the petition, Sue Patterson-Jones, chairman of the Friends of South Pembrokeshire District Hospital, Mayor of Pembroke Aden Brinn and Pembroke shopkeeper Josie Relleen.

Mrs. Relleen, who runs Castle Gifts in Willings Passage, is one of many shopkeepers in Pembroke and Tenby holding copies of the petition for people to sign.

"The plan is for the petition to be handed over to the Health Board early in the New Year and we hope that as many people as possible will be able to sign it before then," said Mr. Hart.

"Copies are being circulated all around Tenby and Pembroke and the surrounding areas, in shops, surgeries and halls," he added.

Pembroke Town Council is also opposing the closure and Clrs. Brinn and Carey will be going door to door in Pembroke gathering signatures between Christmas and the New Year.

"The Health Board has now conceded that these closures are for initially for a three month period so it is vital that everyone makes their voice heard as loudly as possible and we get them reopened by the spring," added Mr. Hart.
