The Post Office is modernising Tenby Post Office into a new 'main' style open-plan branch with longer opening hours for customers.
As part of Post Office's plans to modernise the network, Tenby Post Office will have a mixture of traditional screened and open plan counter positions - a new way of delivering Post Office services with Post Office products and services available alongside retail transactions during shop opening hours. The new-look Post Office will open at 1 pm on Friday, February 21.
Post Office area network manager for Wales, Sue Whittall, said: "I am delighted to announce that we are to transform Tenby Post Office into one of our new main style branches. We understand how important having a Post Office is to residents in the community and we are confident that this new modern Post Office service will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future."
She added: "This modernisation is part of a major investment programme to 2018, the largest in the history of the Post Office, that will see around 6,000 branches (about half the Post Office network) converting to new-style branches. This investment makes a commitment to no more branch closure programmes."
Post Office customers using the branch will benefit from the new refurbishment and longer opening hours, with Post Office products and services available from 8.30 am - 5.30 pm Monday to Saturday. This is an increase of five hours a week extra for customers to access Post Office products and services.
Customers will be able to access the same wide range of Post Office products and services at the new branch.
The new-look Post Office will open at 1 pm, on Friday, February 21. In order for the modernisation works to be completed, the branch will close at 5.30 on Tuesday, February 18. During this period, customers can use any Post Office branch, with New Hedges Post Office and Saundersfoot Post Office, being the closest.
UPGRADE WELCOMED
News that Tenby Post Office will be upgraded next month has been welcomed by Assembly Member Joyce Watson.
"This is very welcome news," she said. "Longer Saturday opening will be especially convenient for lots of people. It is good to see the Post Office investing in our communities, providing important financial services."
