Participants in the recent Head Gardeners Walk and Lunch at the National Trust's Colby Woodland Garden were treated to an extra special display this year as an amazing bumper crop of bluebells coincides with many rhododendrons flowering early due to the extraordinary warm spell through March and April. Head gardener Steve Whitehead said: "It's particularly spectacular at the moment as everything seems to be flowering at once. You don't get many years when bluebells, ransoms, red campion, pieris, most of the rhododendrons and even some early foxgloves are all flowering at the same time! I don't know if this is evidence of global warming, but it's certainly spectacular!" The next Head Gardener's Walk and Lunch will take place on Tuesday, May 22, from 11 am - 1.30 pm at a cost of £15 per person. Bookings can be made by phoning 01834 811885.
