Sir, I read recently in the Tenby Observer that Tenby Town Council intends to invite the South Pembrokeshire Hunt into Tenby for a so-called 'parade'. Do we really want horses and dogs wandering and fouling the streets of Tenby, with the high cost to the taxpayer of the clean-up operation? I presume that the event would also have to be policed for public safety? In these days of austerity, could these costs be put to better use such as gardening services? To quote the Mayor in the same edition; "funds for the likes of the gardening services being cut in half." This event has been cancelled in the past due to the public's distaste of hunting and one can only presume that the local pro-hunting lobby, including our MP Mr. Simon Hart, are now setting their sights on next year's general election and their hope of bringing back hunting with dogs. I also read with sadness that a little dog was knocked over and killed in Tenby recently. Let's hope that Tenby Town Council reconsiders its decision to avoid any more bad publicity.
