Llangennech 26 pts. Whitland 17 At half-time, Whitland found themselves 20 points to three down after a lacklustre performance, failing to spark and showing no enterprise in this National League Division One West clash. Llangennech ran in three tries, through scrum-half Chris Davies, flanker Rob Fole, and winger Andrew Mead, with outside-half Jonathan Griffiths kicked one conversion and also adding a penalty. Whitland's only points came from a penalty kick be fullback Matthew John. In the second half, Whitland did show more endeavour and outscored the home side by 14 points to six, with tries coming from centre Lee Glanville and a fine individual effort by outside-half Emyr Williams, who converted both. Llangennech's points came from another penalty by outside-half Jonathan Griffiths and one by his replacement, Adrian Thomas. There were some outstanding performances by back row forwards Jack Mason and Cameron Spiers, while replacements Raff Williams and Alun Davies carried the ball well after they came on in the second half. There are no fixtures for the next two Saturdays due to the World Cup. Team fielded: Matthew John (Will Davies), Dion Thomas, Lee Glanville, Gary Evans, Christiaan Roets, Emyr Williams, Johnny Morgan, Gareth Williams (Alun Davies), Alan Proctor, Andrew Morillo (Gareth Lloyd), Aled Evans (Raff Williams), Carwyn Davies, Cameron Spiers, Jack Mason (Phil Morgan), Randall Williams, capt. Whitland 23 pts. Narberth 5 Whitland entertained newly-promoted Narberth in a Poly Pipe Civils League match last Saturday and, although not totally convincing, their experience at playing at this higher level stood them in good stead as they comfortably won by 23 points to five, and remain unbeaten this season. Whitland effectively killed off the game in the opening half as they scored 20 points through tries by outside-half Shane Morgan and right wing Ross Michael, who also converted both and landed a couple of penalties for good measure. The second half saw Narberth score their only points of the game when flanker Martin Davies touched down for an unconverted try, while Ross Michael completed the scoring for Whitland as he took his own tally for the match to 18 points with his third penalty. Again there are no fixtures for the next two weeks due to the World Cup. Tenby Youth nil Whitland 34 pts.

After a sluggish first half, when they scored only eight points, through an unconverted try by scrum- half Aled Rees and a penalty by centre James Stephenson, Whitland turned up the heat in the second half of this match against Tenby in the Scarlets Youth Region. While the Seasiders failed to get on the board, the young Borderers went on to score four further tries, through their captain and centre Alex Pickersgill, prop Dan McDermot, winger Thomas Rees and fellow wing Iestyn Scourfield, with James Stephenson completing the afternoon's scoring by converting three of them. Tomorrow (Saturday), Whitland Youth play Crymych Youth in a league match, which will kick-off early, at 1.30 pm, due to the Wales v Fiji match kicking- off at 4 pm. Waunarlwydd 5 pts Whitland Ladies 37 On Sunday, Whitland Ladies came up against a much larger side in their first match in National League Division Two South. But they were far from overawed and, after playing some excellent rugby, with both their scrum and lineout working well, some individual brilliance saw them run in seven tries as they won comfortably 37-5. Tries in the first half came from by scrum-half Rosie Hutton with two and centre Nia Bishop, all three of which went unconverted. In the second half, Whitland ran in four more tries, two by centre Vicky Owens, one by Nia Bishop and another by Rosie Hutton, to complete her hat-trick. Outside-half Sammy Morgan converted one of them. Waunarlwydd's only score came from a touchdown by second row Karen Summons. Team fielded: Sharon Morgan, Kate Bowen, Natalie Bowen (capt.), Caryl James, Christina Jenkins, Jenny Hawkins, Ali Griffiths, Liz Thomas, Rosie Hutton, Sammy Morgan, Emma Mosely, Nia Bishop, Vicky Owens, Lucy Neale, Natalie Walsh.
