KILGETTY U16s 1 MILFORD UTD 4
After Friday's storms, it was a big surprise this game went ahead, but the Kilgetty pitch was in good condition and the weather fine and sunny.
With only 11 fit players, Kilgetty knew they were in for a hard game against high-flying Milford, but started the game intent on not being overawed by their opponents.
After an even 15 minutes, it was Milford who took the lead after springing the Kilgetty offside trap. The 0-1 scoreline suddenly became 0-2, but instead of losing heart Kilgetty re-organised and began to impose themselves on the game, and after a good 15-minute spell they pulled one back through Karl Thomas, who finished in style by lobbing the 'keeper from the edge of the box.
Half-time and only 1-2 down with Kilgetty well in contention, the back four of Wilson, Smith, Merriman and Jones were looking solid and with the midfield working hard to create chances for the front two, a surprise looked on the cards. But the chances came and went and it was Milford who nicked a third 10 minutes from the end.
This took a bit out of Kilgetty, who conceded a needless penalty in the last minute to make the final score 1-4.
Kilgetty can take a lot of credit from this performance and should be in good heart for next week's quarter-final against Clarbeston Road.
Kiletty fielded: Adam Hughes, Johnny Wilson (capt.), Jason Jones, Michael Smith, Gareth Merriman, Robbie Brookes, Ben Howells, Mark Thomas, Paul Woods, Curtis Harris, Luke Gregory.
Man-of-the-match: Gareth Merriman.

TENBY AFC U12s 2 KILGETTY AFC U12s 3
The first round of the Under 12s Cup saw local rivals Tenby and Kilgetty drawn against each other at Tenby's Clicketts ground.
After a pretty nervous but even start, it was Kilgetty who scored first, following a nice build-up from midfield. Steffan Davies laid the ball off to Ross Gray on the left-hand side, Gray took the ball in his stride and with a neat dummy and lightning pace took the defender on the outside, before driving into the edge of the six-yard box and unleashing a powerful shot into the roof of the net from a tight angle.
Kilgetty maintained the pressure on Tenby's defence and were rewarded when Tom Baker quickly latched on to a poor clearance, his low shot finding the corner of the net.
Kilgetty continued to control the game through Callum Proctor and Steffan Davies in the centre of midfield, while James Griffin and Ross Gray were always threatening down the flanks.
Tenby's main threat came from Billy and Daryl, two very quick strikers, who were contained comfortably by some top class defending from Richard Cope and Dan Bates at the heart of Kilgetty's defence, well supported by both Shaun Lewis and Ben Baker.
Kilgetty closed out the half with a 2-0 lead.
Kilgetty went further ahead midway through the second half. A Davies cross was met with a perfectly timed run from Sam Harts, whose shot brought an excellent save from the 'keeper, only to rebound to Baker, whose effort hit the bar, before Harts made sure this time finding the Tenby net.
Tenby did not give up hope and got a goal on the break. Ryan Howells in the Kilgetty goal came charging out, but was beaten by a fine strike.
Tenby continued to press and were awarded a penalty in the last five minutes, but their hearts must of sank for a moment as Howells pulled off a great save, only for Tom Nicholas to react quickest to score Tenby's second.
Tenby battled on, but time was no longer on their side and Kilgetty, after a fine performance, march on into the next round.
Kilgetty fielded: R. Howells, S. Lewis, R. Cope, D. Bates, B. Baker, R. Gray, S. Davies, C. Proctor, J. Griffin, S. Harts, T. Baker, C. Phillips, A. Jones, J. Lewis.
