A special meeting of Jefreyston Community Council was held to consider an outline planning application for residential development on land adjoining Sunnyside Farm, Jeffreyston. The application consisted of three options as follows: Option A - six self-build building plots with parking allowance of two.cars per plot. Option B - ten two-three bed semi-detached units (i.e. 5 x 2) with two car parking spaces per unit. Option C - Fourteen two-bed low cost starter homes (750 sq ft max) with one/two car spaces per unit. Members were in favour of development of the site, but were concerned that the number of units should not create an imbalance in the village which could possibly cause social problems, increase in vehicular traffic and sewage disposal. After taking into consideration the rural nature of the village and the design of neighbouring properties, it was resolved to recommend to the planning authority that a combination of Options A and B would be acceptable, viz. four detached dwellings and two pairs of low cost semi-detached dwellings, making a total of eight units. It was felt that this would blend into the area without being too obtrusive.
