On Wednesday, December 20 18 members of the Pembrokeshire Group of the Ramblers Association met at Llangwm Green for their penultimate organised walk of 2006. This was a short morning-only circular walk of about six miles. The participants were treated to some of the many varied aspects of mid- Pembrokeshire, including the Cleddau shore at Port Lion, the woodland around Benton Castle and the high ground of Newton Mountain, before finally returning to Llangwm by way of Ashdale. Unfortunately, a thick covering of fog persisted for the entire walk, preventing full enjoyment of the views, but doing nothing to dampen the enjoyment of the mince pies when the group stopped for coffee in Benton Woods. Next short walk is on Monday, January 1 (New Year's Day) starting at Narberth car park at 11 am (Grid Ref.108148). Pembrokeshire Ramblers have walks arranged for most weeks of the year and all are welcome - bring a packed lunch.
