While Iron Man contestants were swimming, cycling and running on Sunday, two energetic ladies were facing a challenge of their own.

Carolyn Findlay and Sharon Morgan strode some seven miles of the Miners’ Walk in and around Kilgetty, in aid of the RNLI.

Generously sponsored by the customers of Kilgetty Pharmacy, their efforts have raised a fantastic £900 for this charity.

They were seen off by Jennie McIntosh, president of Pembroke Ladies’ Lifeboat Guild, who had planned to do the walk with a recently broken toe, but doctor’s advice prevailed, so she will now do her walk in October.

So far she has been pledged £283, but may even gain more support before the day, with a possible goal of £1,200 between the three participants.

Grateful thanks are due to so many wonderful local people, whose generosity and support has raised such a marvellous amount for a charity devoted to saving lives at sea.
