Local businesses are to be invited to meet with Tenby Town Council to discuss funding for next year's festive lighting displays.
Speaking at Tuesday night's meeting of the council, Clr. Mrs. Maureen Ward, who helped co-ordinate this year's lighting displays, felt that things had all gone very well.
"From the feedback I have had, everyone was delighted with the work done by Graham and Bill of G. and I. Builders," she said.
"Also, I would like to thank Newey and Eyre who donated 360 bulbs to the displays, which was very helpful.
"Now that the festive season is over, I would like to call a meeting with the businesses of Tenby to discuss next year.
"We as a town council do not get feedback from the lights, while businesses do.
"We don't get a penny from the business rates, yet they are the ones who benefit, and I would like to sit down and work out ways of funding the lights next year.
"We are likely to have some big capital expenditure, with new boxes and the like needed, and if every business would contribute just £1 a week towards the cost, it would be a great help."
Agreeing that a meeting should be arranged, the Mayor, Clr. Mrs. Christine Brown, thanked Clr. Mrs. Ward for all her work.
Clr. Mickey Folland also suggested that the town council make application to the Welsh Assembly for a portion of the business rates.
