Tuesday, June 26, sees the second meeting of Narberth Neighbourhood Policing Forum. Anti-social behaviour in High Street and parking problems in the town, particularly in Northfield Road, and across the newly-installed dropped kerbs around the town, were identified as being the policing priorities at the first meeting last month. At this next meeting, Sergeant Andy King, PC Jackie Howells and PCSO Dave Henry, Narberth's Neighbourhood Policing Team, will update local residents on their work to resolve the problems. "We have been out and about educating people about their parking and giving motorists warnings, but if the parking problems continue, we will be adopting the more heavy handed approach and be issuing £30 fixed penalty notices," said PC Howells this week. "We will also be stepping up patrols in the area to stamp out any anti-social behaviour problems," added PCSO Henry. Sgt. King has been working in Narberth since December 2005. He said: "I joined the police to serve the community and engage with people of all walks of life and after a period of 10 years in the industry, I try to do my 'bit' and put something back into the communities of West Wales which brought me up so well. We want to improve the quality of life in the Narberth area for all residents." PC Howells joined the police in 2001. She said: "I enjoy mixing with people and the variety of police work and the many challenges it brings. "I'm looking forward to getting 'out and about' and meeting the people of the many villages and communities around my patch and basically returning to the 'bobby on the beat' role which I initially joined the police for." PCSO Henry spent 26 years in the Royal Navy Submarine Service before joining as a PCSO in Haverfordwest in 2005. He will now be covering Narberth. He said: "I am looking forward to the challenge of helping to roll out neighbourhood policing in a new area using the experience and knowledge I have gained in my two years in Haverfordwest. "It has been extremely rewarding to see the difference neighbourhood policing can make to an area and look forward to serving the community of Narberth." The Neighbourhood Policing Forum will be held in the dining room of the Bloomfield Community Centre between 7 and 9 pm. Local residents are welcome to attend, meet their new neighbourhood policing team and discuss any concerns they may have.
