A director of the Tenby Observer and Narberth and Whitland Observer, Lady Tindle, has received an MBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours list. Wife of our owner, Sir Ray Tindle, she has received the award for her voluntary services to the community in Farnham, Surrey, where the head office of Tindle Newspapers is based. Lady Tindle, who retired last year after 20 years of teaching English to adults with learning difficulties, operates a charity shop in the town. The shop, which marks its 20th anniversary in August this year, has raised more than £200,000 for a multitude of causes. Looking forward to her visit to Buckingham Palace, Lady Tindle stressed: "I feel it is a very great honour. My only misgiving is that so many other people deserve it. All the work I do relies very heavily on volunteers and I would like to feel that I am accepting it as much on their behalf as on my own."
