The Mayors of Pembroke and Pembroke Dock have bravely abseiled down one of Pembrokeshire’s best-known landmarks.
On Saturday, both Clr. Pauline Waters, First Citizen of Pembroke, and Clr. Peter Kraus, her Pembroke Dock colleague, sailed into South Quay as part of the river rally celebrations and were met by hundreds of spectators.
After disembarking from the boat, Clr. Kraus quickly changed into his other role, Henry VIII, for another challenge!
Clr. Kraus explained: “On entering Pembroke Castle, we were met by the Tenby Abseiling Club who were thankfully responsible for the abseiling that was about to happen.
“Clr. Waters obviously went first and I quickly followed behind. It was a great experience to abseil as a King which I think is the first time ever. To see all the spectators cheering made it all worthwhile. I would definitely do it again. My abseil was done to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society which is my chosen charity for the year. The total raised was approximately £1,700.”
