Clr. Lyn Davies, St. Clears town Mayor, nominated Multiple Sclerosis as his charity fund for the civic year 2012-2013.

Fundraising events were organised ranging from a collection at Gibeon Chapel, where the civic service was held, to a Mayor's Golf Challenge, and an evening of Welsh entertainment with three crowned and chaired Bards entitled 'Noson yng Nghwmni Y Taeogion'.

The total raised was £1,345.

Clr. Davies's sister, Janet Luke Mundy, suffers from Multiple Sclerosis and he chose to donate £1,220 to HOPE which is a Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Centre based in Neyland.

The aim of HOPE is to provide neurological physiotherapy and oxygen treatment therapy for people with Multiple Sclerosis and to maintain a centre where those people, their carers and friends, can meet in comfortable surroundings for social activities.

They also provide physiotherapy sessions for Pembrokeshire's Parkinson's and Stroke sufferers.

The donation will be used to purchase equipment for the centre in order to further aid MS sufferers.

An exercise bike, a table tennis table have already been purchased. The donation was gratefully received.
