Workshops on the historic site located on Pembroke Dock’s Front Street, known locally as Hancock’s Yard, are in place to restore vintage sailing crafts, with the facility currently housing two Tenby Luggers - one donated by the Museums and Galleries of Wales some years ago, which they are trying to restore for sailing, and the other partially built by MITEC - a partnership between the Milford Haven Port Authority and Pembrokeshire College to teach youngsters boat-building skills.
In correspondence that came before members of Tenby Town Council at their meeting on Tuesday night, West Wales Maritime Museum company secretary, David James, extended the invitation to view the vessels, as they are considered very much part of the area’s history and heritage, and knowing of Tenby’s interest in them.
The Mayor, Clr. Sue Lane, said that she’d be delighted to visit the yard some time over the coming weeks with any colleagues that also wished to attend.
