Following the outcome of the Health Board's consultation report last week relating to the proposed closure of the Tenby MIU, members of the town council met with other community and county councillors from South East Pembrokeshire on Monday to develop a plan of action to fight against the proposals.
"As Mayor of Tenby, I will be demonstrating outside Tenby Minor Injuries Unit from 12 til 1 pm, and appeal to all local community residents who feel as passionate about this absurd decision by the Hywel Dda Health Board, to join me in protesting," said Mayor, Clr. Trevor Hallett.
"If we lose the MIU, what will go next? The decision could be detrimental to your health and wellbeing now and in years to come.
"It will affect everyone, including holidaymakers who rely on access to local emergency treatment and advice and put extra pressure on ambulance services," he continued.
Councillors from Saundersfoot, Kilgetty, Begelly, New Hedges, Penally, Manorbier, Amroth, St. Florence, Carew, Redberth, Sageston, East Williamston and Jeffreyston, along with those from Tenby, showed united support at the meeting and will all attend the demonstration.
"Your support is vital, please tell and bring as many people as possible to demonstrate our deep concerns," added Clr. Hallett.
