Contractors responsible for leaving eyesore skips in the centre of Tenby over the beginning of a busy Easter Bank Holiday in the seaside town have been slammed by the Mayor.
Skips were left in the middle of the town’s shopping High Street in Tudor Square, and also on Crackwell Street leading down to the resort’s picturesque harbour on Good Friday, when they should have been removed before the weekend.
“These skips were suppose to be removed yesterday (Thursday) when their agreement to be there expired,” stated the town’s Mayor and county councillor for the South Ward Cllr Sam Skyrme-Blackhall on Friday (April 7).
“We know that when there's building work underway that skips are needed, but not over a bank holiday weekend! That is why Pembrokeshire County Council do not routinely agree for skips to be left out during holiday weekends.

“Big businesses are happy to come to Tenby to make money, but all we ask is if you are going to do building work be considerate builders.
“People come to Tenby because its beautiful. Please do your part to keep it that way.
“PCC staff are working really hard to deal with rubbish issues and right now you are not helping,” she added, stating that subsequently, the skips had been used as ‘dustbins’ by members of the public.
The Mayor said she had contacted PCC’s streetcare department who were promising to remove them over the weekend.
